Mayuri & Sagar | Childhood Friends to Sweethearts | Pre-wedding Hyderabad

He fell in love with her at the first sight at the age of 10. Had a mixed feeling of love-hate-jealousy for 5 yrs until he gathered courage to express his feeling. Few years of consistent effort for her “YES”. Finally after 17 years of that first sight, they are lucky to marry their first love, the childhood love. Some people are bound to stay together for life. They are destined to be together

First day of school - a studious boy saw a cute girl with short hair and he fell in love with her at first sight. Well, it was not that instant; it took many years for him to fall in love after that first look. He had topped his class till 4th Standard and was an undisputed king of competitions. But it was all about to change in his 5th standard. In first unit test in , he scored 97% and was shocked to know that he had been beaten convincingly by this girl. The new girl of the class just became a star in the class. As a 10 year old kid, he took it as an attack on himself and started competing fiercely with her. But this girl was far too talented for him to beat; be it elocution, singing or even debate competition. He started hating her like a normal jealous kid. They were drifting apart. However God had his plans.

It was time of annual gatherings. Their class teacher decided to direct a play. He signed up for King’s role, as he thought he was made for that role. He turned up for the first day of rehearsal, and he was introduced to his ‘Queen’. It was her, the girl he hated most for ruining his reign. Was it destiny or just a coincidence? It was difficult for him to even make an eye contact with her. No,he was not angry; he was blushing. She made him nervous. She was extremely good at acting and had a very soothing voice. Still his favourite scene in play was the one where he made her cry (just a first of many more in her life). On the day of play, she looked like a cute little princess with her purple dress and he too was somewhat handsome. They looked exceptionally well in together as if they were meant to be together. Who would have thought they would end up together to be the real King and Queen (of each other of course) ?! A coincidence started it all and then life has never been the same.

He started liking her, a secret crush. Nobody could be allowed to know it. He was determined to stay away from her outside the class as much as possible. But destiny never allowed that. She just happened to be in the same building in most of the state level exams. She would be on the same street in market where he would be shopping as if wherever he goes, she follows or mostly other way round. Gradually he became interested in her life. He used to think of what she might be doing at this very moment, where she would be right now, what she likes to do. Classrooms and classes were becoming more about her. Whenever a teacher would ask any question, his first course of action was to look whether she raises her hand or not. Whenever her name would be announced there would be glow of happiness on his face. Other boys started noticing the pattern of his behaviour, it was so obvious. They started teasing him by the end of 8th Standard. He was now openly claimed by others as her “Romeo”. Now half of the class knew he had crush on her, that brilliant girl didn’t even have a clue about it. She just knew him as the most talented and sincere guy of the class. She was an apple in his eye, and he was just another orange from box for her.

Days, months, years passed by like this. He never had courage to go and talk to her. Forget about telling his emotions, he was not even able to mutter a ‘Hi’. 10th standard was their probably last year together in school. It had almost been 5 years since first look, it was high time for him. Destiny kept giving signals, coincidences kept happening. He was now sure that she was definitely not destined to leave his life. She was meant to stay there, forever. No matter how bold and dashing he thought of himself, he still had no courage to go and confess his love. She definitely was not going to do that. Then the year as well as school days ended. It was all over, he thought. He went to another city for his junior college. He thought of forgetting her. In the meanwhile he topped 10th Board exam, still he was not happy. All he wanted from god was to get another chance to meet her and God obliged. He saw her at a felicitation ceremony at school. That was the big green signal. If he misses that signal, then he was sure to miss the bus of love. He realised this is his last chance, it’s now or never; he ran to nearest telephone booth and called her. He called her on her landline number (yes, telephone dictionaries were a thing in those days), hoping she would pick up the call and she did (She had to, after all god wanted it). He gathered all his courage and told her, “ Maje tujyavar khup prem aahe. (means - I love you a lot - in Marathi) “ . There was a moment of silence. His heart was beating faster. She replied,”Wrong number !!” and cut the call.

His heart broke into pieces. He never had thought of this reply. He felt devastated. He thought maybe he has not proved himself to her enough and decided to take up career seriously. He started studying seriously for his junior college. However, her life was turned upside down. She never thought of him as someone to fall in love with. She respected him a lot and considered him to have a bright future. She started worrying about him as her rude rejection might ruin his life. Now she was the one who wanted a chance to talk to him. She thought more of him thinking that it’s over. But again the destiny gave both a chance to meet each other during their engineering entrance exam. After the exam, they had a small talk and both were assured that they have moved on. He still hoped to make her his Queen. She had lost all hopes of having him in her life. Both moved to different states for their engineering. Parting was painful for them. Then 2 years later, in second year of engineering, through a mutual friend, he got her number and wasted 0 seconds to send a message. They started talking over messages, and then over the phone. Now she knew that he was still waiting for her, she just had to wait for his proposal. This time, he was definitely not going to lose the opportunity and left no stone unturned to impress her. Then the day arrived, 11th November. He asked her again, again over the phone, and this time the answer was “Yes”. Finally he had her dreamgirl in his life for sure. Both were happy for the prospect of a happy love life.

However life was never going to be that rosy. They both were still 400kms apart. Long distance relationship is always a tough ship to sail. They had their share of fights and cries. They used to meet once in while. These meeting were funnily romantic. Many weird things used to happen like a protest march, transport strikes, bike failures etc. Destiny was definitely testing their bond. However the bond grew stronger over the time through hardships of long distance relationship. Both stood for each other in hard times.

She forgets nothing, while he doesn’t even remember his subjects. She is full of self doubts, while he is too confident on himself and her. She is dreamy, he is practical. He is lazy like elephant, she is energetic like a kid. He likes to run and she like to dance. But opposites attract they say.

After 7 years of relationship, they have decided that it’s time to take matters to the next level. She moved to Hyderabad from Bangalore to be with him. Both approached their parents and got their nod for marriage. Both families knew their prospective in-laws very well and things went much smoother than expected without any further twists and turns. He will now run on her commands and he will make her dance on his moves for rest of their lives.

Almost 17 years after that first look, they are finally sure that they are going to stay together forever. They are lucky to marry their first love, the childhood love. Sometimes first love just stays with you forever. Some people are bound to stay together for life. They are destined to be together.
